Peggy (Varthoui) Ismail was on board the Giang Bee with her daughter Molly. Both survived the bombing and the sinking. Peggy did not survive her internment and died at Palembang on 17 October 1945, aged 60. Peggy was the daughter of Garabed Hagopian and the wife of Mohammed Ismail.
Molly Ismail was a teacher, daughter of Peggy & Tunku Mohammed Ismail. She was repatriated to the UK on the Sobieski October 1945. Passenger list states ‘Malayan Nursing Service.’
